Ted compression stockings, a brand name of compression socks, is also known as post surgical compression stockings or anti-embolism stockings. Fit is important to insure that the stockings are not too loose, which would result in the pressure that the stocking exerts being too light, and making the stocking ineffective. If the stockings are too tight, problems with circulation could develop, as the pressure that the stockings exert could be too high against the arterial blood flow, and the circulation could be compromised. Twists and wrinkles can cause a risk of skin irritation, which in unwell patients can complicate their health prognosis.
